Letting go

Some doors close so you'll finally look up.

When a door closes, we tend to stand in front of it. We knock. We replay what we should have said. We wait for it to open again.

And the whole time, the sky is right there.

Some endings aren't punishments. They're redirections — the job that let you go before you'd have left, the relationship that ended before it hollowed you out, the plan that fell through and made room for a better one.

It doesn't make the closing hurt less. But at some point, it helps to stop staring at the door and look up. There's more space above you than you've noticed.
