Growing up is realising your parents were just people too.
As children, our parents seemed to know everything. Then we grew up and realised: they were figuring it out too.
They were tired. Scared. Making it up as they went. Carrying their own wounds.
That realisation can hurt. It can also bring compassion. They did their best with what they had, in a kitchen much like yours.
Growing up means seeing them as people — and loving them, or forgiving them, as people.
