Love

Love is a verb before it is a feeling.

We talk about love like weather — something that happens to us. We fall in it, we fall out of it.

But the love that lasts is mostly something we do. Packing the lunch. Holding the umbrella. Calling when you said you would. Choosing patience when you're tired.

Feelings come and go, especially over years. What keeps love alive through the dull seasons is the doing — the small, repeated choice to show up.

If the feeling is quiet right now, try the verb. Very often, the feeling follows.
